A Growing Audience for Neurofeedback

Research on neurofeedback has shown that it is very effective in reducing the symptoms of a range of mental health problems from anxiety and depression to ADHD, PTSD, TBI, and more. The list goes on! Neurofeedback is a non-invasive process that has been thoroughly researched for decades. It can even be used to improve work or personal performance. You might be thinking, “This is too good to be true! How does neurofeedback work?”

Neurofeedback training uses QEEG biofeedback to monitor brain activity patterns and train people to improve their self-control over such patterns, and thus their brain’s mental status. Using technology, a computer reads their brain waves and feeds back the information to the person while they are doing an activity. At our clinic, the individual sits down and watches a movie of their choice. The movie will appear “normal” if their brain waves are properly aligned. However, if the brain waves are not aligned, the screen will go dim and the sound will be quiet. This encourages the brain to align itself.  This is one of the basic principles of operant conditioning. And yes, it really is that simple.

Neurofeedback training has received a growing audience all over the world throughout the past few years:

  1. The Italian Soccer Team won the World Cup using neurofeedback
  2. The Imperial College of London requires it for musical training
  3. Neurofeedback is used at West Point for Training Cadets
  4. Neurofeedback is used at several bases for returning GIs in Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee
