I believe that every person faces unique challenges and opportunities during their life journey. I understand that painful and difficult struggles can have a profound impact on our well-being. I also believe that each person can take steps towards growth and healing, in addition to finding joy and new meaning in their day-to-day life. It takes courage to recognize each of our own unique needs and struggles, and I admire the strength it takes to reach out for support and help.
As a therapist, I believe that developing safety is a crucial first step in beginning therapy, and that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of ongoing therapeutic work. By creating a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental space, I help support individuals as they take steps toward exploring challenges at their own pace.
I specialize in working with children and adults who are struggling with the impacts of trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, life transitions, and individuals who are seeking self-exploration. My therapeutic approach draws on Psychodynamic and Attachment theory to understand how our relationships influence our self-concept, feelings, beliefs, and our way of interacting with the world and other people. In my clinical work, I focus on the here and now as well as interpersonal processes in order to help individuals with emotional exploration of past and present. I work collaboratively with individuals to support them in the growth process that takes place in therapy.
I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, and my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. I have experience working with children, adults, and families in community mental health settings, clinics, and schools.
I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #116374 and I am supervised by Carlos Aguila LCSW #75033.
