Will my privacy be protected?

While there is no guarantee of privacy on the individual’s end, a therapist has to follow a number of established guidelines that create protection and privacy.  Therapists are required to use platforms that adhere to HIPPA rules and regulations. Privacy is important and will be protected at all times with the exception of safety situations (such as clients being at risk of harming themselves or others and/or child abuse). In those safety situations, according to the laws, a therapist will need to speak to the proper agencies or authorities and no longer hold confidentiality.

At times, because technology is not perfect, interruptions can occur. The therapist will speak with the individual and create a plan B as a backup. The therapist will provide appropriate alternatives to re-connect for the session in case there is a technology interruption.
